Shared Data

Shared Data allows you to share cloud cost and usage data from your cloud accounts with customer tenants. This is primarily used by managed service providers (MSPs) and resellers who need to provide cost visibility to their customers.

How It Works

When you share data with a customer, Cloud Ctrl creates a copy of the selected cloud account's usage data in the customer's tenant. You can optionally apply:

  • Pricing rules — Change the price origin or apply a markup percentage to the shared data
  • Tag filters — Only share usage that matches specific tag key/value pairs
  • Action scripts — Run custom transformation scripts on the shared data before it reaches the customer

The shared data is updated automatically as new usage data is imported into your tenant.

Creating a Shared Data Connection

  1. Navigate to Customers → Manage
  2. Select a customer or create a new one
  3. Click Share Data
  4. Follow the wizard:
    • Step 1 — Sharing: Choose the cloud connection to share and the target customer. Optionally check "Share cloud connection credentials" to enable enhanced services like recommendations and reservations for the customer.
    • Step 2 — Pricing: Configure pricing rules including markup percentage, effective date, and future markup schedules. Optionally select an Action script to apply.
    • Step 3 — Filters: Optionally filter the shared data by tag key/value pairs to only include specific usage.
    • Step 4 — Finish: Name the shared connection and review your configuration.
